Wildomar Pest Control
A New City With a Long History
Wildomar, California is the perfect mix of old and new, urban and rural. Even though it only became a city as recently as July 1, 2008, the area around what is now Wildomar has a long history. These contrasting features of Wildomar help to make it a fascinating and wonderful place to live.
The name Wildomar was derived from the founders of the area: William Collier (Wil), Donald Graham (do), and Margaret Collier Graham (mar). Settlement in the area began when it was made an outpost for the Pony Express and then became a stop for the California Southern Railroad. It began to grow quickly. As early as 1887, the area had a large hotel, several shops, a blacksmith, and a church. Unfortunately, two incidents of heavy rains washed out the railroad tracks, and service to the Wildomar area was eventually abandoned. For many years, the area was basically forgotten and was almost completely used for farming and ranching.
Wildomar was given a second chance in 1985 when 1-15 was completed, and it brought new interest to the area. Its history has made Wildomar a unique city. It mixes urban and rural lifestyles and combines modern housing and pastureland. It is now a thriving city with reasonable home prices and warm weather year round.
Pests in Wildomar
Wildomar is nestled in a valley between the mountains on the west and rolling hills on the east. Fairly warm temperatures throughout the year and average lows that do not get below 40 degrees mean Wildomar is a haven for bugs year round. Many species of bugs including ants, mosquitoes, flies, fleas, ticks, and bedbugs flourish here. In fact, Wildomar’s warm, dry summers (average July high temps in the upper 90’s) mean that many of these bugs and insects will actually experience more rapid development and increased reproduction rates. This kind of weather brings insects inside in search of food and water.
Rodents also pose a problem to many residents of Wildomar because of its unique rural/urban mix. Rats, mice, and gophers that have lived on the farmland for years are migrating into yards and homes as their natural environment is changing and developing. While this can happen at any time of year, it is more common with the cooler temperatures in the fall and winter.
