Corona Pest Control
What’s in a Name?
Originally named South Riverside, Corona, California became an incorporated city way back in 1886. Located in southern California in the greater Los Angeles area, Corona is home to over 150,000 people. Its relative affordability and peace and quiet has made Corona a nice bedroom community to the much larger and louder cities in Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
Corona has gone through its share of nicknames, which can help explain some of its history. At the height of the citrus boom when it became a city, Corona was known as the “Lemon Capital of the World.” Agriculture dominated the scene and lemons were the specialty. Although lemons are no longer a large part of the economy, there is still a museum in Corona to celebrate this part of its past. In the 1920’s people started referring to the area of western Riverside County as “the Inland Empire.” This name emphasized that the area was a second major center for economic development away from the large coastal cities. Until the 1980’s, the Inland Empire was mostly focused on agriculture, including citrus orchards, dairies, and ranching. Lastly, Corona still goes by the nickname, “The Circle City.” This is a reference to its unique city planning, in which the downtown area is a standard grid layout that is enclosed by a perfectly circular road called Grand Blvd. Regardless of what nickname it is given, the area of Corona has become a highly sought after place to live because of its excellent location and great year-round weather.

Perfect for Pests
The city of Corona has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. If you love warmth and lots of sunshine, Corona is a great place to live! Even in the winter, days are typically very pleasant with highs around 65 degrees. This makes Corona an ideal place for people, and unfortunately for pests too. The mild, wet winters allow bugs and insects like spiders, mosquitos, roaches, bed bugs, and ants to remain active throughout the year. Then, as the weather gets hot, these same pests tend to develop and reproduce more quickly causing infestations. Rodents can also cause problems for the residents of Corona. Rats and mice are unwelcome guests that many in the area must deal with.
